Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 18, 2026

SquatLock (“we”, “us”) is a habit app that helps you spend less time on distracting apps by putting a squat between you and the scroll. We built SquatLock to be private by design.

The short version

Information we collect

Account information (required to sign in). Your email address and a Firebase-generated user ID, used to create and secure your account and to verify your email.

Profile information you choose to add. Display name, optional birthday, and an optional profile photo, plus onboarding answers (which apps distract you, a difficulty preference, and an age range) used to personalize the app.

Diagnostics. Crash reports and basic diagnostic information via Firebase Crashlytics, used only to find and fix bugs. This may include device model, OS version, and a crash log, associated with your user ID so we can reproduce issues.

On-device only — not collected by us

Camera & motion are used live, on-device, to count squats — never recorded or transmitted. Apple Health (optional): if you connect Health, SquatLock writes your squat sessions to Apple Health on your device; we do not receive or store it. The apps you lock are handled through Apple Screen Time using opaque tokens; we never see their names or contents, and the selection stays on your device.

How we use your information

To provide the app (sign-in, syncing your profile across devices, saving your photo) and to keep it reliable (diagnosing crashes). We do not sell your information and do not use it for advertising.

Where your data is stored

Account and profile data are stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage) on our behalf, under Google’s security and privacy terms. See Google’s Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Your choices and rights

Edit your profile anytime in the app. Delete your account in the app (Settings → account), which removes your Firebase profile and signs you out — or email us to request deletion. You can disconnect Apple Health or revoke camera/motion permissions anytime in iOS Settings.

Children

SquatLock is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
